JESSICA JOHNSON
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR | ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Coach Jessica Johnson was a four year varsity basketball player in high school. She attended Santa Margarita Catholic (CA) for two years before transferring to Capistrano Valley high school in Mission Viejo, CA. During her senior year, she won league MVP and posted a career high: 22 points, 11 rebounds. During the summers, she played AAU basketball for team “OC Elite”, an Adidas sponsored program in Orange County, CA.
Johnson enrolled at Point Loma University (CA) where she received a scholarship to play on the women’s basketball team. Johnson contributed to her team’s success, helping them reach the Conference Championship and the 2nd round of the NCAA Division II tournament. Johnson’s love for the game led her to coaching, where she has made a lasting impact on youth athletes.
Johnson has worked with several programs. She began her coaching career with "Team Nikos" in Orange County–the #1 feeder program for high school basketball in the area. At Nikos, she coached multiple elite teams and led advanced skill development training. Johnson moved on to Roots Sports Academy in Longview, Wa. At Roots, she continued developing youth athletes' skill set.
In her current role as assistant director for Resilience Select, Johnson is more focused than ever on instilling not just basketball skills but also a holistic approach to health, wellness, and sustainable living. She believes that physical and mental well-being are the foundations for achieving personal goals, both on the court and in life.
Johnson graduated from Point Loma University with a bachelor’s degree. Her goal is to empower athletes to become well-rounded individuals who thrive in all areas of life.
